Living Out Loud Book

How do we share the Gospel in a way that isn’t awkward, but instead, feels natural and unforced?

In the new book, Living Out Loud, you’ll learn how to have spiritual conversations that flow into spiritual engagement.

Living Out Loud is not a list of steps or strategy for sharing the Gospel. It is a way of living that begets the Gospel. It’s developing an active, natural posture of loving God and talking about Him as we go about our daily lives in ways that are obvious to those around us.

Whether you are:

  • Feeling burned out about evangelism
  • Scared or hesitant to have spiritual conversations
  • Looking for fresh ways to engage those around you

You will be encouraged with ways to make sharing your faith easier. If you feel like you’ve forgotten how to speak about God or you were never taught how to evangelize, this book is for you.

You’ll be inspired as you learn how to share the spiritual things that come to your mind in conversations with others. Living Out Loud simply means that we bring the same enthusiasm when talking about God that we naturally demonstrate when talking about other things we’re excited about, committed to, and believe are important.

  • You want to have easier spiritual conversations where you can share your faith
  • You want your life to shine the Good News of Jesus Christ
  • You want to engage others spiritually in your daily life
  • You want to embody the Gospel so that your actions and words communicate it

Matt's Living Out Loud book testimonial

As we were on the train, a man about my age sat next to me. I felt very comfortable Living out Loud and engaging him spiritually. After some dialogue, I realized that he had more of a universalist point of view that it’s just good to be spiritual and doesn’t matter what you believe. He had told me that he was in finance and investments like mutual funds so I shared an analogy with him saying that no one would put their money in something that didn’t promise a return, it’s good to invest but you want to be sure you can trust what you are investing in. I shared that Jesus said some pretty exclusive like “I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me.” The guy, Zach, said he was thankful for what I shared with him and that he would think more about it. He let me pray for him and he gave me his number. I was encouraged by the conversation because it was an indicator of my growth in evangelistic conversations from over the past 6 months and it felt very natural.

Reading the book, I realized I often use the spiritual filter, especially at my public school. This is pretty weird since one of the main reasons I decided to go to a public school was to be a light for Christ. I think I was censoring myself because I didn’t want to “make God look bad,” and also because I was afraid of people judging me. Your book has helped clear those misconceptions for me and has quickly made a difference in my life. For example, while I was towards the middle of the book, I came into my first-period class one morning and saw that one of my classmates had broken his collarbone playing football. After asking about his injury, I asked if I could pray for him. I would never normally do this, but I remembered that “the harvest is plentiful,” and that this was truly an opportunity to put my faith into practice. It was awkward afterward because I didn’t know what to say, but he did thank me for praying for him. The concept of Living Out Loud has helped me in other ways, like speaking about God or the Bible at lunch with my friends. It feels easier now because I realize it is just a natural expression of who I am. To not express my faith would be to wrong God and myself. I am still learning how to naturally express my faith, but already I have had spiritually related encounters with others I would not otherwise have had. I’m excited to see how the lifestyle of Living Out Loud will enable me to reach others for Christ.

I have just finished your book. I was challenged and have begun a simple prayer each day for God to show me opened doors to share Christ. It has been life changing for Ken [my husband] and I. We travel a great deal since we are retired and have felt I was not serving the Lord. I’m seeing that our travels have led to simple conversations about our faith. It’s a different path for me. Your book has definitely been life changing. Being raised in a church and family who lived out their faith, serving in the church was the “comfortable place” to serve the Lord. However, I’ve always had a yearning to go beyond the church building to share my faith. Thank you for being an instrument to help Christians like me. I found myself staying inside my comfort zone, the church, and not going out to the lost. God has begun a boldness and confidence in my faith to go beyond the walls of my church.

More about the Author Kevin King

Kevin and his wife, Jeanne, moved to New York City in 1998 and began sharing the Gospel on college campuses and in ethnic neighborhoods. Through the people they’ve led to Christ, churches have been planted in multiple countries.

Kevin has a bachelor’s degree in Bible, a master’s in biblical counseling, and a master of divinity degree. His passion for evangelism began when he gave his life to Christ in high school—and later intensified to focus on reaching people who have never heard the Gospel. He then discovered the strategic advantage of working with international students and the people groups God was bringing to the US through migration.

We know that churches can learn from what has been working on the mission field!

One of the most difficult parts of evangelism is getting into the spiritual conversation. This book and free guide will help you feel comfortable taking that first step.
