I have never had to worry about a serious threat on my life. That’s not the case for most of the immigrants in Brooklyn, so many come from that war stricken geography of the Arabian world. Many people from Yemen are just that, here because staying there was not an option.
The truth is that my Muslim neighbors exude kindness and peace and don’t deserve to bear the shame and stereotypes formed on this day seventeen years ago. And even if that wasn’t the case, their souls would still share the same basic human need for a Savior.
