Mission Trips For College Students
This is a letter to all of you who are in college, thinking of college, or of college-age. Really anyone who has found themselves in that time between high school and a career, house, or family. Through the course of my life, I have been in all of these things. Currently, I have a family of six living in New York City as a missionary to unreached people groups.
I have been through college, and I have had a career. I have owned homes. Yet, I have left all those things in order to pursue missions. Not the family, I brought them with me. This letter is to ask you to think about your life right now.
Are you using your life for his glory? Do you base your decisions on his will? Are you following the great commission? Are you going into all the world? Could you consider going on a mission trip for college students?

So I know what you are thinking. “I need to finish school.” “I need to stay on my career path.” “I need to get my life in order.” “I can serve God after I have finished all that stuff.” Yes, you can. That is what I did. Ok, I know you are thinking, “This guy really stinks at making a persuasive argument.”
I went through college, got married, had kids. My wife started her career, we bought a house, I started my career, we had one more kid, had another kid, then another one. Most of these things were done while looking through the lens of Western, self-focused glasses. Finally, when God radically transformed our lives we got rid of all those things, except the kids.
Now, both my wife and I see our zeal for the Lord and wish we had it back in college. Praise God that he works things in his time. Otherwise, we probably would never have met, much less married.

I am guessing you have an idea of where you want to go in life. You probably also have a heart for missions because you are reading this blog. I urge you to really think about what God desires for your life.
Do not think about your friends, family, school, jobs, pets, or anything else. Just think of God’s will for your life. What if he is calling you to missions? Do not waste your opportunity
In 1 Corinthians 7:25-40 Paul talks to those who have not married yet. He says,
“I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. The one who is married is concerned about the things of the world how he may please his wife.”
Right now, you only have God to worry about pleasing. You are unencumbered by the needs of a spouse or children. Jesus has said in Luke 10:2:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”
We pray that he will send workers into the harvest. Do not waste your singleness. See what mission trips for college students are available. See if missions are right for you. Pray and see if he is calling you.
